Why is the programme only for women?

From the research conducted at work by Mckinsey, Deloitte and the FRSE review of women leadership, three key themes emerged.

1) Across many countries, women are significantly under-represented in leadership and are struggling to attract and retain female leadders at the most senior levels.

2) Women, and particularly women of colour, are more likely to experience microagressions in the workplace, and harassment and microaggressions are on the rise.

3) Women are increasingly facing burnout and are leaving companies at an unprecedented rate and a much higher rate than male leaders.

Our research shows...

Women, and particularly women of colour, are more likely to experience microaggressions in the workplace. They are also doing what they can to promote wellbeing and equity, alongside their main roles, but are increasingly experiencing burnout.

"If companies don’t take action, they risk losing not only their current women leaders but also the next generation of women leaders."

"Young women are even more ambitious and place a higher premium on working in an equitable, supportive, and inclusive workplace. They’re watching senior women leave for better opportunities, and they’re prepared to do the same.” *1

Although the drive to increase women in Leadership started later than the focus on boards, it is clear a robust and re-doubling of effort is needed to increase the gender balance further.

“Progress comes in many forms, statistics aside, and the debate on gender equality in business changes subtly and deepens each year. In 2021 it was all about culture, a focus on inclusion, transparency and honest conversations. That looks set to continue.

The bigger gains are yet to come, in building a truly inclusive workplace culture, where everyone irrespective of gender, ethnicity or background, can thrive and give their best.”*3
